I’d like to welcome you to Texas State University and to the College of Science and Engineering .
The College of Science and Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of science, engineering, and technology (STEM) disciplines: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, and technology. Our programs prepare students for careers in these disciplines, for careers as scientific and health professionals, and for careers as teachers of science and mathematics.
The college has 185 faculty members in six departments and the Ingram School of Engineering. It puts equal emphasis on teaching and research. Undergraduate and graduate academic programs offer robust and modern curricula. The college’s research activities are nationally recognized for their quality.
A particular emphasis is science and mathematics education. Texas State is proud of its roots as a teacher training institution, and the College of Science and Engineering pays tribute to those roots with strong programs in science and mathematics education.
A unique feature of all of the college’s undergraduate programs is the opportunity for undergraduate students to become involved with faculty research. Undergraduate research gives students the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment on cutting-edge problems. Undergraduate research participation often leads to scholarly publications. Students who have taken advantage of this opportunity are exceptionally well prepared for graduate and professional study.
Graduates of all our programs are well prepared for employment in scientific and professional careers, advanced professional training, and graduate study.
Sincerely,
Stephen Seidman, PhD
Dean, College of Science and Engineering
