Department of Engineering Technology Scholarships

FOUNDRY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

General Information:

  • Enrolled in or completed a university level cast metals class
  • Student must be registered with Foundry Educational Foundation @ www.fefoffice.org
  • Minimum sophomore level status
  • Must live in North, Central, or South America
  • If awarded, must agree to attend January meeting of Texas AFS Chapter
  • Complete departmental application packet includes:
  • Application form
  • Letter of application to Foundry Educational Foundation Key Professor in Engineering and Technology
  • Career objective statement (250-500 words)
  • Current degree outline or summary

Award Amount: Four (4) annual $1,000 awards

Application Deadline: October 15

JOE E. WALKER SCHOLARSHIP

General Information:

  •  Engineering technology major
  • Must have completed 45 credit hours toward the degree
  • Overall GPA 2.50, major GPA 3.00
  • Degree outline must be completed

Award Amount: Annual award up to $1,200

Application Deadline: Application must be submitted to TEnginering Technology office on or before November 24

JOHN KEATING MAHER SCHOLARSHIP (Est. 1984)

General Information:

  • Technology/Engineering manufacturing major
  • Must have completed 60 hours toward degree
  • Overall GPA 2.50, major GPA 3.00
  • Degree outline must be completed
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be current, paid Society of Manufacturing Engineer (SME) Student Chapter member

Award Amount: Annual award up to $1,200

Application Deadline: Application must be submitted to Engineering Technology office on or before November 24

JOSEPH E. WINEK SCHOLARSHIP

General Information:

  • Scholarship available to incoming freshmen, and renewable for up to four years
  • Must be majoring in industrial technology with a construction concentration
  • Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA
  • If GPA falls below 2.5, student has  (1) long semester to raise it to the required 3.0 or above, otherwise scholarship will be reassigned

Award Amount: Amount of award to be determined on a yearly basis, depending upon interest accrual

K-W CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIP (Established 1990)

General Information:

  • IT technology construction major or ET community systems specialization
  • Must have completed 60 hours towards major with at least 12 hours in technology
  • Overall GPA 2.25, major GPA 2.50
  • Degree outline must be completed
  • AGC/NAHB Student Chapter members given preference

Award Amount: Annual award up to $1,200

Application Deadline: Application must be submitted to Engineering Technology office on or before November 24

SAN MARCOS MANUFACTURING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

General Information:

  • Technology/engineering student with a manufacturing major/specialization
  • Must have completed 60 hours toward degree
  • Overall GPA 2.50, major GPA 2.80
  • Must be currently enrolled in 12 hours
  • Active in professional organizations such as Society for Manufacturing Engineers (SME)

Award Amount: Annual award of $500

Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted to Engineering Technology office on or before March 1st

TEXAS CHAPTER AMERICAN FOUNDRY SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

General Information:

  • Enrolled in a cast metals class in the Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University
  • Minimum sophomore level status
  • Member of AFS
  • If awarded, must agree to attend January meeting of Texas AFS Chapter

Complete departmental application packet includes:

  • Letter of application to professor teaching course
  • Career objective statement (250-500 words) explaining interest in cast metals engineering as a career
  • Current degree outline or summary

Award Amount: Annual award of $1,000

Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted to Engineering Technology office on or before October 15

WILLIAM L. DECK SCHOLARSHIP (Est. 1984)

General Information:

  • Engineering technology major
  • Must have completed 60 hours toward the degree
  • Overall GPA 2.5, major GPA 3.0
