Types of degrees

B.S. Bachelor of Science Degree

A minor is typically required. Math and science tend to be emphasized.

B.A. Bachelor of Arts Degree

A minor is required. Students must demonstrate college-level foreign language proficiency, as well as complete an additional English course.

B.S.T. Bachelor of Science in Technology Degree

Double majors

Students pursuing two majors with one degree-type (i.e. B.S. with majors in biochemistry and biology) are considered double majors.

A minor is not required in most cases. Double majors will receive a single diploma with both majors listed.

If your second major is outside of the College of Science and Engineering, you must verify that you meet your second major’s admission requirements prior to declaring that major.

If you want your primary major to be within the College of Science and Engineering, you must visit the College of Science and Engineering Undergraduate Advising Center to declare your primary major. If one major is outside the College of Science and Engineering, you must visit that college's advising center for advising.

Dual degrees

Students pursuing two majors with two different degree types are considered dual degree-seeking students. An example of a dual degree is a B.S. major in Biochemistry & B.A. major in Mathematics.

In order to earn a dual degree, students must meet all the requirements for each degree. Students will be eligible to graduate when they have completed the requirements for both degrees.

Students must have a minimum of 30 hours of additional course work beyond the minimum required for the largest degree.

If you want your primary major to be within the College of Science and Engineering, you must visit the College of Science and Engineering Undergraduate Advising Center to declare your BS and BA degrees.  You must verify that you meet your second major’s admission requirements prior to declaring that major.

If one degree is outside the College of Science and Engineering, you must visit that college's advising center for advising.
